Love Mr. 陶傑's satire piece. The Chinglish speech impresses foreigners as well, who can't understand how we can switch from Chinese to English to Chinese at a flick of the button (ans: because Eng has so many grammar rules that it won't be easy to just substitute words). Nobody knows the truth though: language deficiency in expressing oneself in only one language.
I view my US passport (hey, I was born in the US of A, blame my parents if you want to...) as a travel document. In order to have more flexibility, I'm applying for a HKSAR passport as well.
Once upon a time, I explored giving up the US citizenship for tax purposes. In the subsequent documentation, it actually asks "if you are giving up citizenship for tax purposes?"! Obviously you check "No" for that question. My conversation with immigration officers also educated me some: if you give it up, it's difficult to return to the US in the short term.
